The Department of Defense’s (DoD) Peer Reviewed Cancer Research Program (PRCRP) has research funding opportunities in GI cancers. The PRCRP was created by Congress to investigate cancer risks and research gaps that may impact service members and their families. Congress appropriated $90 million for the PRCRP for fiscal year 2019 and represents an opportunity for GI researchers.

There are several research opportunities but three awards, the Idea Award with Special Focus, the Impact Award, and the Translational Team Science Award have pre-application deadlines of May 22, 2019. Visit the PRCRP website for more information on these and other research opportunities.

AGA is committed to ensuring a healthy pipeline of research funding for gastroenterology. We will continue to advocate for the PRCRP and other federal funding for digestive disease research, as we continue to expand our own awards portfolio through the AGA Research Foundation.
