AGA recently returned from an invigorating visit to Chicago for the annual AGA Tech Summit. Undergoing a transformation in 2024, the summit focused on bringing together startups and venture capitalists to move GI innovations and technologies forward.

A highlight of the event was the annual Shark Tank competition, where forward-thinking companies showcased and pitched their innovations to a panel of expert judges.

Congratulations to this year’s winner, Arithmedics!

Congratulations to the winning team, Drs. Renumathy Dhanasekaran and Verti Venthan Elango, which include the second woman innovator to ever win. They will represent AGA at the annual DDW Shark Tank competition in May. Arithmedics uses generative AI and data intelligence to reduce billing mistakes and claim denials. Its software generates and explains codes to streamline the billing process and uses data from completed claims to reduce future denials.

Shoutout to the crowd favorite, Aspero Medical

Our audience also voted, and the crowd favorite was Aspero Medical. The Aspero Medical PillarTM balloon overtube solution with patented pillar micro-textures maximizes frictional properties, improving mucosal wall traction and anchoring consistency in the GI tract while allowing for atraumatic engagement with the bowel wall. Using this technology, Aspero Medical continues to advance flexible endoscopy interventions.

Check out some photos below from another great Summit. Thank you to our attendees and supporters: Castle Biosciences and STERIS (Gold level), AI Medical Services, Boston Scientific, FUJIFILM Medical Systems and Laborie Medical Technologies, Inc. (Silver level) and Cook Medical Inc. and Olympus Corporation (Bronze level).
