AGA and the Joint Task Force on Allergy-Immunology Practice Parameters recently released new clinical guidelines for the management of eosinophilic esophagitis (EoE) in pediatric and adult patients. The guidelines recommend topical steroids as a first-line treatment for EoE along with proton pump inhibition therapy, diet therapy and esophageal dilation as treatment options.
