We are pleased to announce the results of the elections held recently by the AGA Institute Council for the positions of council chair-elect, section vice chairs and nominating committee members.

With congratulations, we welcome these member leaders into their new roles! The AGA Council is the driving force behind AGA’s programming at Digestive Disease Week® (DDW).

Meet our incoming chair

Council chair-elect
VA Medical Center, White River Junction & Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth

Incoming council chair-elect Dr. Douglas Robertson will serve one year (May 2023-May 2024), while shadowing Dr. Rhonda Souza for DDW 2024. Dr. Robertson will then serve as council chair for three years (May 2024-May 2027; DDW 2025, 2026 and 2027).

Section leadership

Each new vice chair will serve a two-year term that begins immediately following this year’s DDW meeting and extends through DDW 2025. Following their term as vice chair, they will move into the role of section chair for an additional two years through DDW 2027. Nominating committee members will serve during the 2025 nomination/election cycle (fall 2024).
