We’re not slowing down in the fight to protect GI patients’ access to care. Here’s three ways we’re working to ensure patients can receive the care they need, and providers aren’t saddled with more administrative red tape.

Stop Medicare cuts!

GIs are facing a 3.37% Medicare payment cut in 2024 unless Congress intervenes. That’s why we’re putting pressure on Congress to stop GI payment cuts — tell your elected officials not to leave Washington, D.C. for the holidays before taking action to protect patients’ access to high quality care.

Surveillance colonoscopy is a preventative service

AGA, ACG, ASGE, Fight CRC and 90 medical societies and patient advocacy organizations, are pushing the Departments of Health & Human Services, Labor, and Treasury to issue policy clarifications that ensure surveillance colonoscopies are covered as a preventive service under the Affordable Care Act.

You can help! Rep. Debbie Dingell (D-MI) is urging colleagues to join her in a letter to HHS Secretary Becerra, urging the agency to make these policy clarifications.

UHC: suspend prior auth for GI endoscopy

AGA, along with 17 advocacy groups representing millions of patients, sent a letter to UnitedHealthcare (UHC) this week asking the insurer to reconsider its Advance Notification Program and proposed “Gold Card” prior authorization program for GI endoscopy procedures in 2024.

We urge UHC to suspend its current and proposed prior authorization programs for GI endoscopy procedures and collaborate with providers and patients to identify a solution that puts the health and wellbeing of patients first.
