AGA partnered with Rx.Health on the development of a quality improvement project that is using digital health services to address health disparities and vaccination rates in patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). We’re looking for one additional site to join the project, which is sponsored by Pfizer and the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation.
Participation in this project will give sites use of the Rx.Health All4IBD platform to help manage IBD patients as well as a site honoraria. Although this quality improvement project is covered under the Advarra central IRB exemption, sites may be required to receive internal IRB approvals for participation in this project.
Key project objectives:
- Identify factors contributing to vaccination disparities in IBD patients and target population
- Educate patients via virtual care platform and telemedicine to help improve health care literacy and vaccination rates
- Engage IBD patients for better outcomes through regular immunizations
- Publication of successful findings and national expansion
Any internal approvals and agreements must be finalized by June 2022. Montefiore Medical Center, Bronx, New York, and the University of Chicago have already signed on to take part in this innovative approach to improve vaccination rates in socially disadvantaged populations. This project is expected to launch with all sites in August 2022.
