Medicare proposes to cut physician payments next year across most specialties, including GI, according to the 2021 Physician Fee Schedule proposed rule. The cuts are the result of adjustments to the conversion factor that offset planned increases to evaluation and management (E/M) services.

Use the AGA Medicare Physician Fee Schedule Calculator tool — exclusive to AGA members — to determine the impact of the proposed cuts and contact AGA staff, Leslie Narramore, with the impact to your practice. AGA can use this data as we work with the physician community to urge Congress to prevent these payment cuts.

If the proposed cuts are implemented, they will be devastating to countless providers who are already struggling with lost revenue during the COVID-19 public health emergency. We urged congressional offices to sign onto Rep. Bobby Rush’s, (D-Ill.), letter to House leadership that calls on Congress to prevent the cuts by waiving Medicare’s budget neutrality requirements while permitting increases to the E/M code set.
