To help advance the understanding of the gastrointestinal microbiome in health and disease, the AGA Institute Council Microbiome & Microbial Therapy section is planning an extensive program around this topic at DDW 2019.

A Host Perspective of the Inflamed Gut Microbiome, led by Dr. Sartor, midget distinguished professor of medicine, microbiology and immunology at UNC Multidisciplinary IBD Center and his former mentees, will explain concepts regarding the gut microbiome, identify gaps in knowledge and challenges, and review opportunities in microbiome sciences in the context of human health and disease.
