AGA International Subcommittee

This Organizational Statement was last revised by the Governing Board, (7) VOTED, April 2018.

Mission

To further the Strategic Plan by developing and implementing a global strategy that will (1) increase the prominence of AGA within the international gastroenterology community; and (2) meet the needs of international constituencies through education.

The AGA International Subcommittee is a subcommittee of the AGA Institute Education and Training Committee.

International events at DDW

Several of our international partners will be hosting events at Digestive Disease Week® (DDW) 2025, including an inaugural AGA-KSG Joint Symposium on Digestive Neoplasms.

Subcommittee Functions

Educate AGA international members

The AGA International Subcommittee strives to ensure that the educational needs of our international members are consistently met, and understand that these needs are often distinct from those members living in the U.S. As a result, in the upcoming year the subcommittee will focus on the following: 

  • Establishing and expanding AGA’s academic relationships with international associations and societies to promote education and research collaborations
  • Raising international awareness of AGA activities and promoting AGA participation in local/regional forums
  • Increasing AGA participation and expounding upon existing educational activities

At the annual Mexican Gastroenterology Week, AGA and AMG host a joint symposium on select topics highlighting advances in gastroenterology.

AGA hosts multiple programs with the Chinese Society of Gastroenterology, including the Best of AGA at DDW in Chinese, and other symposia held in China.

AGA will collaborate with the Korean Society of Gastroenterology on a scientific exchange at the Digestive Disease Week (DDW) in San Diego.
Japan (JSGE)April 24, 2025, in Tokyo, Japan
AGA and JSGE host a joint symposium held annually, alternating between DDW and the Japanese Digestive Disease Week. The symposium highlights developments in clinical gastroenterology and basic science research.
