Two new abstract awards help fund your travel to DDW 2022

As you make plans to attend Digestive Disease Week® 2022 in San Diego, California, don’t forget to apply for an AGA abstract award to receive up to $1,000 to help offset your travel costs. In addition to our long-standing awards for fellows, students and international investigators, we are pleased to offer two new awards that will support abstracts presenting research on health disparities and eosinophilic GI diseases. Learn about the awards below, then submit your application by Tuesday, Feb. 22, 2022.

$500 Award
4 Awards available

This award supports graduate students, medical students, medical residents (residents up to postgraduate year three), clinical fellows or postdoctoral fellows at an institution in North America. The research presented in the abstract must be related to health or health care disparities associated with a digestive disease or disorder. Applicants must be the first author of an abstract or the designated speaker of an oral presentation accepted by AGA for presentation at DDW.

AGA membership is not required of applicants who are students or residents; however, they must be sponsored by an AGA member in good standing. AGA membership is required of applicants who are clinical or postdoctoral fellows.

Funding for these awards is made possible through the generosity of supporters to the 2020 AGA Giving Day Campaign to fund health disparities research.

This award supports graduate students, medical students, medical residents (residents up to postgraduate year three), clinical fellows or postdoctoral fellows at an institution in North America who have performed original research related to eosinophilic gastrointestinal diseases. Applicants must be the first author of an abstract or the designated speaker of an oral presentation accepted by AGA for presentation at DDW.

Applicants must have an active AGA trainee membership if they are clinical or postdoctoral fellows. Graduate student, medical student and medical resident applicants are not required to have an AGA membership. However, all applicants must be sponsored by an AGA member in good standing.

Funding for this award is provided by the American Partnership for Eosinophilic Disorders.

This award supports MD, PhD or equivalent fellows at an institution in North America who are the first author of an abstract or the designated speaker of an oral presentation accepted by AGA for presentation at DDW.

The top scoring abstract will be designated the Fellow Abstract of the Year and receive a $1,000 award.

Applicants must be active trainee members of AGA and be sponsored by an AGA member in good standing.

Funding for this award is provided by Rifat Pamukcu, MD, FAIMBE, and the AGA Research Foundation Endowment Fund.

14 Awards available

This award supports graduate students, medical students or medical residents (up to postgraduate year three) at an institution in North America who are giving abstract-based oral or poster presentations accepted by AGA for presentation at DDW.

The top scoring abstract will be designated the Student Abstract of the Year and receive a $1,000 award. Four recipients will receive the AGA–Radhika Srinivasan Student Abstract Prize.

Applicants do not have to be AGA members. However, they must be sponsored by an AGA member in good standing.

Funding for this award is provided on behalf of Radhika Srinivasan and by the AGA Research Foundation Endowment Fund.

2 Awards available

This award supports early career (i.e., 35 years of age or younger at the time of DDW) investigators residing outside of North America. Applicants must be the first author of an abstract or the designated speaker of an oral presentation accepted by AGA for presentation at DDW.

Applicants must be active members of AGA and be sponsored by an international AGA member in good standing.
