Since 1984, the Research Scholar Award (RSA) has served as the AGA Research Foundation’s most prestigious award, offering up-and-coming investigators a platform to explore their interests, gain international recognition and transform the lives of patients living with digestive diseases.

If you’ve been dreaming about what you could achieve with an AGA RSA, now’s your chance to turn your dreams into reality. We are now accepting applications for the 2022-23 RSA cycle through Wednesday, Nov. 9, 2022.

In addition to our topic unrestricted awards, we are pleased to offer one RSA focused on gastric cancer (including precancerous lesions) and one on inflammatory bowel disease. Recipients are provided $300,000 in total funding and benefit from a variety of professional development opportunities over the three-year term, including:

  • A guaranteed oral presentation at Digestive Disease Week® (DDW) during the final award year.

  • One guaranteed peer review in AGA’s flagship journal, Gastroenterology, which has a record-high Impact Factor of 33.883.

  • Networking with program officers from federal funding agencies at the AGA-AASLD Academic Skills Workshop.

  • Career and professional mentoring with leaders on AGA’s governing board and research committees.
