Remembering Dr. Emmet B. Keeffe

Share your memories of the former AGA president and join us for the AGA Emmet B. Keeffe Symposium at Digestive Disease Week® (DDW) to pay tribute to a legend.

Emmet B. Keeffe, MD, was a renowned liver professional and former AGA president who touched many lives as an exceptional mentor, colleague and friend.

Dr. Keeffe is often praised as a heavyweight scholar among colleagues, as well as a physician who modeled kindness as a priority in GI patient care.

“His professional life was a reflection of his love of humanity, dedication to the service of others, and devotion to the generation and communication of new knowledge,” wrote John Vierling, MD, and Lawrence Friedman, MD, in Transactions of the American Clinical and Climatological Association following his unexpected death in 2011.

To continue his legacy, the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology at Stanford University created a tribute video as part of the 4th Annual Emmet B. Keeffe Symposium last month at Stanford University.
