In honor of our milestone 125th anniversary, we interviewed nearly two dozen past and present AGA leaders to hear about their journeys into gastroenterology, thoughts about AGA’s current state and the impact the organization has had on their careers.

The full playlist, which includes 21 videos, is a unique opportunity to learn about AGA history firsthand from individuals who developed the organization into what it is today.

The videos feature AGA presidents who have served over the past thirty two years, starting with Dr. David Alpers, AGA President in 1990, leading up to Dr. Barbara Jung, current AGA President-Elect.

Many AGA leaders shared the formative impact AGA had on them as fellows embarking on their medical careers, noting that the mentorship from experienced members is a part of the distinctive culture that unites us.

AGA’s next president, Dr. Jung, echoed similar thoughts.

We’re thankful to ALL of our AGA leaders, past and present, for taking the time to reflect on our rich history and we’re excited to look forward to a bright future filled with innovation and a new generation of leaders!
