The application period for the AGA Institute Investing in the Future: Advancing Diversity in GI program has been extended to Monday, Jan. 31, 2022. The primary goal of this program is to encourage and provide support to third-year residents and first-year GI fellows from underrepresented backgrounds as they navigate training stages.

Selected applicants will participate in a special agenda at Digestive Disease Week® (DDW) 2022, including daily presentations tailored to physicians and scientists from underrepresented backgrounds, networking with key leaders and industry professionals, and dedicated time to attend other DDW programming.
Eligibility
Participants must be a member of an underrepresented population, as defined by the NIH, who is interested in inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) or irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). Applicants must meet the following additional criteria:
- Currently enrolled in an academic institution as a third-year medical resident or first-year GI fellow, and possess an advanced degree, such as MD, PhD, DVM, DO.
- Must be a U.S. citizen, non-citizen national or individual lawfully admitted for permanent residence at the time of award selection.
Applicants and their training directors will be notified of their application status mid-March 2022.
