Play a pivotal role in AGA’s 2024 educational programming by joining an AGA committee, the AGA Institute Council or becoming one of AGA’s 2024 course directors. Bringing your insights to DDW programming and AGA’s learning activities is a great way to highlight issues affecting the future of GI and supporting AGA’s goal of ending the burden of digestive disease. We highly encourage you to nominate yourself or someone you know! The nomination period closes Nov. 1, 2023.

“We have lots of ways that you can get involved so that it complements your professional life, said AGA President-elect Maria Abreu. “What we can guarantee you is at the end of your time [serving in leadership] is that you have made new friends, that you’ve learned a lot and that you’ve done something for the field of gastroenterology.”

“AGA really does recognize that the practice community is its largest constituency [and] is committed to meeting the needs of practicing gastroenterologists,” said AGA Vice President Larry Kim. “But to do this, it needs to hear our voice through effective leaders such as yourself. So, I hope you will strongly consider applying for a position.”

“Why is it important to get involved in AGA leadership,” said Past AGA President John Carethers. “The leadership opportunity is there, its ability to shape the future for advocacy, processes, team building, recognition, and services, and diversity of opinion. It’s fantastic.”

We welcome volunteers who bring diversity across all dimensions, including (but not limited to) gender, race and ethnicity, geography, sexual identity, practice setting, diverse perspectives, and institution type.
