A recent study finds that 17% of women with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) avoid or delay pregnancy because of concerns with their disease. Research shows that with the right planning and care, women with IBD can have healthy pregnancies and healthy babies.

In the learning module “Supporting your IBD patients in family planning and pregnancy,” you can access discussion scenarios to aid you in supporting women with IBD during delivery and postpartum. Case-based examples give you an opportunity to practice discussions with patients and develop working partnerships with other health care providers involved in the patient’s pregnancy.

Helping women with IBD have a healthy pregnancy is a challenge best met with information, collaboration and shared decision making. The IBD Parenthood Project provides GIs with learning modules and videos to help them discuss IBD and pregnancy with their patients.
