Applications open: Undergraduate Research Awards

Applications are officially open for AGA’s undergraduate research programs! We are pleased to offer two opportunities for undergraduate students to perform research under the mentorship of an esteemed AGA member.

These programs are open to undergraduate students from groups traditionally underrepresented in biomedical research, including racial and ethnic groups, individuals with disabilities or from disadvantaged backgrounds. 

Help strengthen pathways for diverse GI investigators by sharing this information with your networks and encouraging eligible students to apply by Feb. 1, 2024.

Six students will have the opportunity to perform 10 weeks of research under the mentor of their choosing. Recipients will also receive a $6,200 stipend to offset living expenses for the summer. Past recipients are eligible to apply.  

Important dates 
February 2024: Applications close  
April 2024: Applicants notified of status. 
May/June – August 2024: Recipients perform summer research with mentors.

Six students will have the opportunity to perform 10 months of research under the mentor of their choosing. Recipients will also receive a $6,000 stipend, complimentary AGA student membership for three years and a travel allowance to attend Digestive Disease Week®. Past recipients are eligible to apply.

August 2024 – May 2025: Recipients perform research with their mentors 
May 2025: Recipients attend DDW® 2025
