AGA Committee for GI Innovation & Technology

The AGA Committee for GI Innovation and Technology (CGIT) supports innovation and the development of new technology in gastroenterology, hepatology, nutrition and obesity by guiding medical device and therapeutics innovators through the technology development and adoption process.

Get to know the committee

AGA is committed to advancing innovation in GI and putting new technology into practice. That’s why we developed the AGA Committee for GI Innovation and Technology. The committee is a key resource for industry and physician innovators developing new technology in GI, as well as FDA and other regulatory groups involved in the device approval and adoption process. The committee’s main goal is to ensure the needs of gastroenterologists and patients are met with each new technology.

Industry partners

The committee offers a wide range of services that support the development and adoption of new technologies. We make use of an extensive physician and research network with a broad spectrum of expertise to help guide companies through the GI device development process. Let’s work together to advance innovation in GI.

  • Objective reimbursement assessment and recommendations
  • Assessment of peer-reviewed literature

AGA and MATTER launch first-of-its-kind digestive disease incubator

This new initiative aims to accelerate innovations that will reimagine the care of people living with GI conditions.

AGA has partnered with Varia Ventures to launch a new fund dedicated to investing in fast-growing, early-stage companies in the GI space. The fund will speed innovations from concept to clinic for the benefit of patients with digestive disease.

Read more about this venture in the AGA press release from January 2022.

Congratulations to our innovative funding recipients

The GI Opportunity Fund is excited to announce that it has completed its first five investments. Each one of these funding recipients is developing innovative GI tech that can transform care for patients with digestive disease.

  • Virgo is an AI-fueled endoscopy capture and clinical trials program.
  • EndoSound developed a system to transform any endoscope into an EUS.
  • NeXtGen Biologics has patent-protected technology using the tissue of a salamander with regenerative abilities for a variety of clinical benefits.
  • EvoEndo has created sterile single-use, flexible endoscopes that enable unsedated endoscopic procedures.
  • Oshi Health‘s innovative, virtual care delivery model can help to reduce barriers to patient care.

Leadership

The vision of the AGA Committee for GI Innovation and Technology is to advance GI innovation aimed at reducing the burden of digestive diseases.
