Applications are now open for AGA abstract awards

Graduate and medical students, medical residents, and clinical or postdoctoral fellows with AGA-accepted abstracts presenting an oral or poster session at Digestive Disease Week® (DDW) 2025 are eligible to apply for an AGA abstract award. The application deadline is Thursday, Feb. 20, 2025.  

Start your AGA abstract award application now and submit it when you receive confirmation of your abstract’s acceptance in February. 

In addition to receiving funding to offset travel expenses, recipients are acknowledged for their exceptional abstract by AGA leadership and their peers. Top-scoring abstracts in the student and fellow categories earn the esteemed title of “Abstract of the Year” and receive an additional $500.

  • 19 awards available, plus two for health disparities research ($500 each) 
  • Eligibility: MD, PhD or equivalent fellow. 
  • Applicants must have an AGA trainee membership and a sponsor who is an AGA member. 
  • 19 awards available ($500 each) 
  • Eligibility: Graduate students, medical students or medical residents (residents up to postgraduate year three). 
  • Applicants do not have to be AGA members themselves. However, they must be sponsored by an AGA member in good standing. 
  • Two awards available ($750 each). 
  • Eligibility: Early career (35 years of age or younger) basic, translational or clinical investigators residing outside of North America. 
  • Applicants must have an AGA membership and a sponsor who is an AGA member.  
  • Four awards available ($500 each). 
  • Eligibility: Graduate students, medical students or medical residents (residents up to postgraduate year three), clinical fellows or postdoctoral fellows giving abstract-based oral or poster presentations at DDW
  • Applicants must have an AGA membership and a sponsor who is an AGA member.
