During this year’s XXXVII Pan American Congress of Gastroenterology, The Pan-American Organization of Gastroenterology (OPGE) selected Sheila Crowe, MD, FRCPC, FACP, FACG, AGAF, and awarded her the title of “Master of Pan-American Gastroenterology.” Dr. Crowe was among three recipients selected from a pool of 17 candidates that represented nine GI societies from across North America.
Dr. Crowe was the 112th president of AGA (2017) and one of three female presidents. A former AGA Governing Board member and chair of the AGA Council, Dr. Crowe has also served on AGA committees related to research, education and women. She has been appointed by AGA leadership to several key task forces, to direct key educational activities and to reevaluate our governance and organization.
Dr. Crowe has been in academic gastroenterology for her entire career with experience at several renowned institutions including McMaster University, the University of Texas-Galveston, the University of Virginia and now the University of California, San Diego.
The XXXVII Pan American Congress of Gastroenterology is an annual meeting of OPGE’s 22 world leading GI member organizations, which includes AGA, to discuss the most current topics in digestive diseases, with a special focus this year on topics pertaining to COVID-19.
