The Best of DDW® 2020 in Portuguese

AGA is pleased to offer our Portuguese-speaking members "O Melhor da DDW® 2020 em Português" virtually on Monday, Oct. 26, 2020, 6:30 to 8 p.m. EDT.

The program summarizes the best research submitted to Digestive Disease Week® (DDW) 2020 in the areas of inflammatory bowel disease, hepatology, digestive endoscopy and functional diseases of the digestive system.

Led by moderators Suraia B. Barclay, MD, AGAF, and Tercio L. Lopes, MD, four renowned Brazilian gastroenterologists will discuss the best work on the respective topics.

Topics and featured speakers

The Best of DDW in Inflammatory Bowel Diseases
Dr. Wilson R. Catapani graduated from the Federal University of São Paulo. He  receives his masters and doctor in gastroenterology by the same university. Dr. Catapani conducted his postdoctoral fellowship in inflammatory bowel diseases with Prof. Anne Ferguson at the University of Edinburgh. He is currently full professor of gastroenterology at the ABC Medical School, creator and head of the Intestinal Inflammatory Diseases Service at the same university.

The Best of DDW in Hepatology
Dr. Cynthia Levy graduated from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro. She completed her residency at the University of Miami with a graduate degree at the Mayo Clinic Rochester, and at the University of Florida, Gainesville. Currently she is associate professor of medicine at the University of Miami.

DDW’s Best in Functional Diseases of the Digestive System
Dr. Carlos Francisconi graduated from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul, post graduated from the University of North Carolina and received his PhD in gastroenterology from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul. Currently, he is a professor at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul, and a member of the editorial board of Neurogastro Latam and the International Journal of Inflammatory Bowel Diseases. Dr. Francisconi is co-author of the first two recent works of global epidemiological research by the Roma Foundation on dyspepsia and irritable bowel syndrome.

The Best of DDW in Digestive Endoscopy
Dr. Maria das Gracas Pimenta Sanna graduated from the Federal University of Minas Gerais. She is a specialist in gastroenterology and digestive endoscopy, postgraduate in therapeutic endoscopy from the University of Hamburg, Germany, under the supervision of Prof. Nib Soehendra. She is currently assistant physician at the Federal University of Minas and member of the intestinal diseases group at the Hospital das Clinicas, Federal University of Minas Gerais.
