The AGA journals’ newest DEI commentary Promoting the Pipeline of Diverse Individuals within Gastroenterology: Reflections from AGA FORWARD Program Scholars — written by Patricia D. Jones, Dominique D. Bailey, Oriana M. Damas and Erica Vargas on behalf of the Inaugural Cohort of AGA FORWARD Program Scholars — shares how pipeline programs are critical in achieving inclusive leadership in medicine.

The FORWARD Program uses a team-based approach to mentorship, which includes the home institution mentor, the AGA FORWARD mentor, academic skills specialists, and executive coaching. The aim of this approach was to deliver tailored programming, mentorship, and services that meet the unique needs of each FORWARD scholar.

Learn more about how this approach works in this month’s DEI editorial, published in Gastroenterology and Clinical Gastroenterology and Hepatology.
